This special issue features eight articles examining the politics and local experiences of climate change in the context of Myanmar’s post-coup crisis. It offers insights into how conflict-affected communities experience and interpret changing weather patterns and disrupted environments, and explores how climate change discourses and responses are embedded in political struggles over authority and territory amid conflict, military exploitation, and revolutionary resistance. The issue engages ideas of rupture and chronic crisis to advance understandings of the climate– conflict nexus, challenging simple explanations through a qualitative social science and historical lens. The special issue builds on the MyCClimate project (2021–2026), by researchers from Myanmar and the Danish Institute for International Studies.
